How to Whiten Teeth at Home
Posted by admin in Dental Care on February 23, 2011
The best advice for anyone who plans to whiten his teeth at home is follow the instructions that come with whatever teeth whitening product or kit you purchase. Getting overzealous could actually cause you to do irreversible damage to your teeth, such as weakening the enamel. Another good idea is to talk to your dentist about whatever product you intend to buy & ask if she can recommend others for you to consider. Dentists are, usually, up to date on the safety & effectiveness of such products. Also look for customer reviews of the products you’re considering using. Reading about other people’s experiences could help you with your decision.
If your teeth are already pretty white, one way to boost that whiteness up a notch is to use whitening toothpaste in conjunction with a whitening rinse. You’re supposed to brush your teeth for, at least, two minutes, at least, two times a day. If you brush your teeth for the recommended amount of time & rinse for 30 seconds with the whitening rinse, you should see results in a few days. Most br&s of toothpaste have a whitening variety that usually include baking soda & peroxide as the whitening agents.
Once you’ve whitened your teeth with your home whitening kit, you’ll want to maintain it for as long as you possibly can. This could mean giving up drinking coffee, dark sodas & red wine. If that’s too much for you, then, again, using whitening toothpaste & a whitening rinse could help. If you believe in the claims made by certain br&s of chewing gum, then chewing whitening gum between meals could also help you keep your teeth whiter longer.
The obsession with having a whiter smile has spread across the United States like wildfire. As long as you practice good oral hygiene, in addition to whitening your teeth with over-the-counter whiteners, you should be all right.
